The Chicken or Egg Theory Applied to Experts

Do you like to watch shows on TV where an expert teaches you how to flip older homes, bake the perfect cake or any other such topic? Do you have one or more experts that you like to watch?

 

If so, and most of us do, I have a really important question to ask you: Before you started watching the show with your favorite expert, had you ever heard of them?

 

Chances are very low that you’d heard of your expert before watching them on TV. So what made them the expert? It’s simple really. It’s the TV show itself that made them the expert!

Contrary to what you may have thought, these people are not on TV because they are the experts. In fact they are the experts BECAUSE they are on TV.

 

So how do you leverage this information? You get in front of people. On television, speaking live or any way you can. The larger your audience the better. Some groups and meeting organizers allow people to pay for a slot on their show. Consider making this purchase.

 

Just get out there and get in front of people. Let others call you the expert and smile to yourself. They are the ones building your reputation as the expert… which of course you are!
